More Mini Nahar


Here's the next stage of the process, this time a new coat in oils. You can click on this pic for a much larger version. There's a dramatic difference now! I still need to do this to the other side, and then he'll need another coat plus legs, head and hair. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to work any more pencil in; only time will tell!

Okay, can you talk a little more about this technique? How do you work that kind of texture with oils, the finesse of detail? Type of brushes? Consistency of paint? I'm sure you talked about it with me when you did Dervish, and I seem to remember something about dabbing with frayed brushes, but I'm drawing a bit of a blank and I'm sure you've progressed since then, too...

wow he is looking great Mel ! I also love the re-sculpting! did you do it? I would love to see some closer pics of him from both sides and straight on.. looks really nice! I will be watching.. I just got my order from dick blick today with my new derwent whites.. so now back to my dapple grey Im working on!

Hi Becky! Yes, I did the resculpting on him. I will of course have (lots!) more pics, but I'm not going to bother with that 'till he's done. Good luck with your grey!
