Friday Tip

It's pretty bad when a painting area becomes a repository for odds and ends. That means nothing is really getting accomplished, at least painting or sculpting-wise.

And it's even worse when work stuff spills over into the kitchen! Once in a while productivity here comes to a grinding halt, as it does for every other artist. If you're a big time organizer like me, often times the answer to the bottleneck is just to get everything put back in its place and clean up the work area a bit. But every once in a while there's more to it than that. If your workspace is ready to go but you are not, try to get to the root of the problem. For me the answer usually lies in too many projects happening at once or nagging housework. Take care of what is really bothering you or causing your brain to overload, and the creative floodgates will open!

All better! Everything is back in its place and there is just one project to focus on. Indian Fire here is almost done and next up are a couple other custom orders that are getting close to their finishing touches as well. A clean, organized workspace and a single project to focus on means things can really get moving!

Good tips. I'm big on organization too and have to de-clutter the work table often too. :-)
